Local Charity Partners With National Organization To Increase Funds And Awareness Of Scholarship Programs for Arizona Students

The Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the Hispanic College Fund have joined together to co-host the 16 Annual Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, September 11 at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler. The event will raise funds for both organizations and will increase the number of scholarships awarded to students in Arizona.
Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) September 4, 2004 -- The Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Foundation has partnered with the Hispanic College Fund, to award scholarships to college and college-bound students to raise funds and awareness of each of the organization’s scholarship programs.
The Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the Hispanic College Fund have joined together to co-host the 16 Annual Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, September 11 at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler. The event will raise funds for both organizations and will increase the number of scholarships awarded to students in Arizona.
“This was truly a natural fit,” said Idalia Fernandez, Vice President of the HCF. “The Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the Hispanic College Fund have very similar missions -- to give more deserving kids the opportunity to attend college.”

The cooperative arrangement was embraced by the organizations’ sponsors. Serving as Title Sponsor of the 16 Annual Ronnie Felix Memorial Golf Tournament is General Dynamics. Other sponsors include: Bashas’, Jenner & Block, Coca Cola, Frito-Lay, Gilbane Properties, Rand Construction, Western Paper, Shamrock Foods, Bar-S-Foods, Naumann Hobbs Material Handling, Interstate Packaging Group, Southwest Screenprint and Lockheed Martin. The tournament will accommodate nearly 220 golfers.
The Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament was established in 1989 in memory of Ronnie Felix, a native of Arizona who lost his life in a tragic accident at the age of nineteen. The Hispanic College Fund (HCF) has awarded over $3.5 million in scholarships to over 1,700 Hispanic students nationwide. Based in Washington, DC, the HCF was seeking to gain access to philanthropic organizations and individuals in Arizona. With the purpose of developing strategic alliances for Board development and broadening its donor base in Arizona, the Hispanic College Fund first approached the Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Foundation to explore the possibility of combining their efforts in May of this year.
